Tassel & Trellis is an age-old design motif, woven into European silks for centuries. I chose the name because my dog is named after Hemingway's Yorkshire Terrier, "Tassel."
And Trellis?
Tea spilling is my specialty. After a divorce I needed something to build my new life around, and I knew men and martinis wouldn't cut it. The word "Trellis" kept appearing in my journals. Tassel and Trellis. I needed a new structure to build upon, to climb like a rose from the soil of my last chapter. This business idea is what emerged.
Tassel + Trellis curates elegant objects for dogs who make an entrance — and for the people who do the same.
The brand is about the voice (“warm, witty, slightly scandalous”), the positioning (“elevated lifestyle objects for people who love their dogs with taste, joy, and care”), two dog+human quizzes (Personality + Coloring), and the bigger long-term vision of helping “women with broken pickers."
The idea evolved from looking for a gift for my girlfriend to a full creative and emotional business vision rooted in my personal stories, my dog Tassel, and your desire for something lighter and more joyful.
